Who We Are

Welcome to the website of the 5th Annual Animation Dingle Festival,  where industry and third level participants join together to celebrate the best in class of animated content. The event is made up of conferences, screenings, workshops, and of course the 2016 Student Animation Awards.

Top executives from Amazon and Disney will join with the BBC, RTÉ, and a wealth of industry professionals, to share their thoughts on the many opportunities that exist today in the Animation Sector, both in Ireland and internationally. The festival hopes to offer students a global perspective on the art of developing, financing, and producing animated content, for screens both big and small, with beautiful Dingle as a dramatic backdrop.

The festival will screen both professional and student shorts and features from Ireland and around the world over its two days.

Look forward to seeing you in Dingle!

Dingle International Film Festival is couched within the breathtaking town of Dingle on the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, southwest Ireland, and is part of the Wild Atlantic Way.

The festival takes places annually in mid-March, and as such it often celebrates St Patrick’s Day as part of its festival programming. Housed within this Gaeltacht area, Dingle IFF is proud to promote the Irish language and offers an award for Irish Script writing with its Físín event. Dingle is home to many film makers, one of Ireland’s only independent cinemas, is a known film location (Ryan’s Daughter, Far and Away) and a major tourist destination, making it the perfect home for our festival.

Dingle IFF offers feature screenings from Ireland and around the globe, covering all genres; it is home to the Gregory Peck Award: For Excellence in the Art of Film. It is the first Irish festival to embrace the field of Animation and in 2015 held Ireland’s first ever Animation Awards ceremony in association with Animation Ireland.

Guests to the festival have included: Maureen O Hara, Cillian Murphy, Aidan Gillen, Scott Wilson; 2-time Oscar nominated director Sir Alan Parker, inventor of the Stedicam Garrett Brown, 2-time Oscar winner and sound artist Tom Johnson, 2-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple, producer Ned Dowd, and Oscar nominated actresses Sarah Miles and Saoirse Ronan.
